If Ed Harris and John Cena had a love child, that would be Verlon Roberts inside and out. Verlon is pronounced like Merlin, the magician, except with a V. He’s never worn a magician’s hat, but he’s worn plenty of others. Verlon is a screenwriter, actor, and retired United States Marine.  He primarily writes action and comedy, often seamlessly blending the two. His work explores identity and purpose.

Verlon’s TV pilot, Retired, is a finalist in a major screenplay competition, and one of his features also has several quarterfinalist placings. He recently booked and is shooting an exciting recurring role on an upcoming Hulu series. He is a graduate of Seattle Film Institute, where he earned his BFA in acting, and holds an MFA in screenwriting from the New York Film Academy. However, his proudest achievement is having set of the night at a stand-up open mic in a small bar called Tony V’s.

Verlon was born in Blairsville, a small town in Northern Georgia, or as he calls it, Blairsvegas. But unlike most things, he did not stay in Blairsvegas. Verlon could not wait to bust out of those mountains and experience the world. He did that precisely, spending twenty years in the big green machine, The United States Marine Corps. There, he gained valuable life skills while being surrounded by unique characters from various backgrounds. Verlon left with a chest full of medals and enough aches and pains to make a Tylenol commercial.

Laughter is one of Verlon’s favorite pastimes. He has twin toddlers—that’s two of them for you non-parents. He makes it a personal mission to get them to laugh every morning, and Verlon is a man who always accomplishes the mission. When he isn’t deep into a story or bringing a character to life, he enjoys spending downtime with his family outdoors, playing tennis, or riding his motorcycle.

At the end of the day, Verlon is a cuddly teddy bear highly trained in military tactics. He can hit you with a laugh one moment and knock you back with fire intensity the next. One of Verlon’s favorite quotes is, “Humans have more fun than anyone.” Have some fun; you’ve earned it.
